Star Wars Uncut is an experiment in using the Internet to crowdsource user content… The movie was cut into 15 second chunks and people where invited to choose a chunk to recreate. The whole film has now been reassembled out of all the submitted bits and bobs. It’s a pretty eclectic mix, from hammy send-ups to some lovely bits of animation, and way better than The Phantom Menace.
Good chance you might have seen this, but a classic example of an interactive pop-up book. Documented on YouTube.
Chair Arch is a film by The Glue Society to promote 42 Below Vodka, inspired by the strap line “Because We Can”. Illustrates the use of a team to realise an idea, and that the process can be very much a part of the outcome. Fun website too.
'Make it real' article →
Issue 70 of Eye magazine has a great article about the resurgence of designers and illustrators making artworks ‘for real’ rather than relying on digital tricks and visualisations.
Moving Brands →
Serious graphics design agency who specialise in creating “moving brand for a moving world”. They often employ social networking to engage their clients in the creative process. Particularly check out their A Brand For London blog link.
Cyriak animation mix →
Bonkers animation in which the artist’s hand ‘interacts’ with looped ‘recycled’ video.
Jonathan Safran Foer's Tree of Codes interactive book →
This book is an interactive paper-sculpture. This article and the publishers website not only documents the outcome but the production process. It also uses Flickr to document the book.
The Human Interface →
Humanising the digital process. Installation/event as visual communication. Nice documentary too.
